Welcome to the United Entities of Wal-Mart, Sony, Haliburton or whatever : - )
Can you imagine a country where we pledge allegiance to a corporate logo ? I can and it's sad.
Our debt is huge and it owned by China. what if it was sold to say Halliburton? They could cut a deal - "do as we say or we'll call the debt" ...scary? yup
Corporations are like people - they have rights - but unlike people they do not have all the responsibilities we have.
See - they can easily declare bankruptcy and not have to repay outstanding debts. People no longer can do that thanks to the MBNA Law that Congress passed.
The also are major contributors to these current crop of politicians...mostly to repug candidates but also to some dems as they are hedging their bets this year.
Not all corporations are evil - some actually do good work...but the evil ones are gobbling up our resources - the airwaves, the print media, our energy companies, and our downtowns.... they are greedy and they won't stop until they own everything they want....
How do we stop them? We a good start is to vote for Democrats this Tuesday

The black [doughnut] hole is coming soon!
So many rants so little time...but here is one for today...that Medicare Part D[umb, angerous, eceptive] doughnut hole...
I've mentioned this hole before and do believe it was planned with the specific end results in mind...why else was it included?
Soon - like next week - many who signed up for Part D will start reaching the prescription cost amount where their coverage STOPS. They must continue to pay monthly for Part D even though they also have to pay for the next $3000 of the cost of their prescriptions.
Why was this put in? Duh...because the legislation was written by the pharmaceuticals and although I have not yet done the research, I am guessing that a majority of people spend between $2,000 and $5000 on medications and so that became a good gap so that the drug kings could make the maximum profit while not having to offer any discounts and still collecting the monthly fees.
What will seniors do? Many will have to make choices between meds and food or meds and rent or meds and other necessities.
Do the repugs really want this? My answer is YES - or they would NOT HAVE ENACTED PART D...Think about that when you vote this November....

The greedy black hole
Do I keep picking on the greedy pharmas? You betcha! Especially now that many are falling into the donut hole and having to pay for their own meds - while still paying that unconscionable premium....
Did the population ask for this plan d[for dumb]? Nope - it was forced on the citizens by the arm twisting corrupt Tom DeLay and his equally corrupt cronies in the middle of the night....so when you are paying for that greedy donut - thank Tom and the pharmas and remember you are contributing to the ever sky rocketing costs of that CEO's yearly pay and bonuses. Do you think that CEO would sign up for a plan like this? No way !

What a surprise
The ever so greedy pharmaceuticals have increased the cost of brand named drugs by 3.9% - since guess when? Yup when the stupid Medicare part D[umb] kicked in - in January.....I'm sure someone in the administration will say "who ever thought...."
I wonder if anyone in this administration or Congress ever thinks of anyone but themselves and their greedy pocketbooks, wallets and their bought and paid for lobbyists....

hip hip hooray
Enron
Well a greedy corporation bit the dust and it's two heads will be off to jail - YEA..... there is talk of these greedy corporatists being pardoned by the shrub so we need to make it clear that that particular action will have very bad consequences for the repugs all over the country-
and tell me again why corporations are allowed to go belly up in bankruptcy and not pay their debts - like their pension and retirement funds and normal everyday citizens are not allowed to do so anymore?
We do need to make Enron the poster child of greedy repug excesses and compare their situation to the mbna bankruptcy bill that congress gave to the credit card companies....
Let's do something radical like take our country back from the corporations.....
oops nsa is watching me.....that's okay - my phone was tapped in the 60's.....it's been a fact of life that if the repugs don't like what you are doing - they monitor you - one would think they have better things to do but they see us ranters as a danger...they have forgotten to read the constitution and the history of our country - so nsa - go read a history book : )

Is there an MSG corporate entity?
I can't tolerate MSG and avoid it when I can read a label. It makes me dizzy and nauseous. Sometimes after I eat some foods I feel the same way and after reading an email this morning about MSG - I think I know what is going on. MSG or Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein [another name or MSG] is in a lot of food we eat at home or eat in both fast and slow food places. Ask for the ingredient list and see if MSG or Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein is listed in any of the foods on your plate.
What does MSG do? It makes food "taste better." This is from the The Glutamate Association
They tout it as a health benefit especially for older people as it causes them to eat more. I'm not sure I would equate eating more with better nutrition.
What the email I got showed, and which was a greater concern, is that MSG is addictive and is related to obesity. It is akin to nicotine - a known additive that creates an addiction but that no one wants to admit to. It would mean taking on the food industry.
Try this: Go here National Library of Medicine and type in the words "MSG Obese." You can then read a few of the over 100 medical studies that appear.
And be aware of what you are eating - be very aware!

So the corporations killed our food too!
Fruits, vegetables not as nutritious as 50 years ago
By LANCE GAY
SCRIPPS HOWARD NEWS SERVICE
In spite of what Mother taught you about the benefits of eating broccoli, data collected by the U.S. government show that the nutritional content of America's vegetables and fruits has declined during the past 50 years -- in some cases dramatically.
Full article is here
Gee – I knew this years ago but I am glad the world is catching up with the fact that our growing crops for quick shipping to stores is not only killing the soil it is producing fruit and veggies that aren’t as nutritious.
So what do we do? Spend all day eating fruit and vegetable in order to get the nutrition we need? Or eat supplements?
Local organic produce is a good answer but it does not work if you live in a cold climate. If your “fresh” food is shipped to your local store – chances are that it ripened “en transit” - and the best nutrients come from vine/tree-ripened produce – not truck-ripened produce ☺
If you want information about phytonutrients [that’s the good stuff in your fruits and vegetables] go here then click "yes" when you see my picture.
For your children and grandchildren this product might taste better [again click yes under my photo]

Welcome to the new world
I waver between laughing about where our country is heading - and crying about where we are heading.
I laugh when I think about the reactions of the people who voted in the corporations who then get mad when they find out that they were duped. "Don't ask me for help - I told you so" is a plausible response. The United States of Haliburton/Exxon/Etc... is NOT here to help you... but you know what - we Liberals/Progressives etc. will always help you - even tho you called us commies, told us to leave the country and were downright rude to us. Why would we do this? Because in the long run we are the ones who care - we believe in helping - the corporations under this administration DO NOT CARE.
Sometimes we need to hit bottom before we can get back up - and maybe after a few more years of corporate greed at the expense of citizens will awaken the citizenry and they do something about it - like vote out the corporatists [aka fascists] !

Alito
Welcome Alito on the bench at the Supreme Court and say hello to a permanent corporate country and say goodbye to democracy.... Say hello to Alito and say goodbye to privacy. Say hello to Alito and say goodbye to what is left of checks and balances.
If the big corporations are now writing important legislation - just imagine what it can be like if they write all of it...under King Shrub and his court....
DO something! Don't let the bastards wear you down!
YELL: illegitimis nil carborundum

Happy New Year
A new year resolution: CUT UP YOUR CREDIT CARDS.
The only way to make a dent on the black heart that is the credit card industry is to stop using those cards! It's a shame but the bottom line is all that matters to them...caring? compassion? helping you? Forget it! You are a cash cow for them....
Have you received your new bills yet? The minimum due has risen.... also check the fine print for the new fees for lateness...
I understand that some card companies are delaying posting electronic payments and thus creating late fees!
Anytime legislation is written by the lobbyists - the public loses..and the "new" bankruptcy bill [aka the MBNA bill] is such legislation.
Ditto the Medicare part D [for dumb?] legislation. That was written by the insurance companies who now stand to rake in mega mega bucks. It's all part of the scare 'em and penalize 'em mentality that has been in place under King Shrub was annointed!
